v
Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problem
is solved.
v
See the
Problem Determination and Service Guide
on the IBM
Documentation
CD to determine which
components are customer replaceable units (CRU) and which components are field replaceable units
(FRU).
v
If an action step is preceded by “(Trained service technician only),” that step must be performed only by a
trained service technician.
Lit light path
diagnostics LED with
the system-error or
information LED also
lit
Description
Action
Microprocessor (CPU)
A microprocessor has failed, or an
invalid microprocessor configuration
has occurred.
Note:
(Trained service technician
only) Make sure that the
microprocessors are installed in the
correct sequence.
1. Check the system-event log to determine the
reason for the lit LED.
2. Determine whether the CNFG LED is also lit. If the
CNFG LED is not lit, a microprocessor has failed.
a. Make sure that the failing microprocessor,
which is indicated by the CPU1 or CPU2 error
LED on the system board, is installed correctly.
b. (Trained service technician only) Replace the
failing microprocessor.
c. (Trained service technician only) Replace the
failing system board.
3. If the CNFG LED is lit and the CPU mismatch LED
on the system board is lit, an invalid
microprocessor configuration has occurred.
a. Make sure that the microprocessors are
compatible with each other. They must match
in speed and cache size. To compare the
microprocessor information, run the Setup
utility and select
System Information
, and
then select
System Summary
. Select
Processor Details
.
b. (Trained service technician only) Replace an
incompatible microprocessor.
Service processor bus
(SP BUS)
The IMM detects an internal error.
1. Remove power from the server; then, reconnect
the server to power and restart the server.
2. Updated the firmware on the IMM.
For more information about light path diagnostics, see the
Problem Determination
and Service Guide
on the IBM

CD.
Remind button
You can use the remind button on the light path diagnostics panel to put the
system-error LED on the operator information panel into Remind mode. When you
press the remind button, you acknowledge the error but indicate that you will not
take immediate action. The system-error LED flashes while it is in Remind mode
and stays in Remind mode until one of the following conditions occurs:
v
All known errors are corrected.
v
The server is restarted.
v
A new error occurs, causing the system-error LED to be lit again.
