7299 Active Hubs
All models of the 7299 active hub support up to two host ports and up to seven
attached devices per port. These models are rack mounted.
Models 2EX, 2EN, and 2FX redrive a signal from a workstation controller port to
attached devices. The entire host signal is transmitted at the maximum signal level
to its devices. The 7299 design is transparent, and all the UTP connectors are
filtered.
The front view of both models is shown in Figure 1-5:
and supports both 1 Mbps mode and 2 Mbps mode.
2EN
This model uses UTP cabling. This hub has RJ45 connectors. The 2EN is
an entry level 2-port Hub that only supports 1x data mode.
2EX
This model uses UTP cabling. This hub is available with RJ11 or RJ45
connectors
2FX
This model uses foiled twisted-pair (FTP) cabling. This hub has shielded
RJ45 connectors and supports both 1 Mbps mode and 2 Mbps mode.

The following LEDs are on the front of models 2EX and 2FX:
Power LED
This amber LED remains on when the 7299 is on.
Host LEDs
The LED to the right of each host RJ connector lights when the host is active:
Off
No active host is connected.
On
An active host is connected, and at least one device is active.
Flashing
The host is polling for an active device. None of the attached
devices are active.
Device LEDs
The LED to the left of each device RJ connector lights when the device that is
attached to that LED is active:
Off
No device is connected, or the connected device is not active.
On
The connected device is active.
