5.4 Commissioning
In this chapter, you will find the procedure for commissioning
the DATA+ BOX.
Unlike a conventional PC, the DATA+ BOX does not provide a
direct connection for input devices such as keyboard and
mouse or for a screen. It functions as a server and is queried
by the user via a client.
In the simplest scenario, the client is a PC or laptop (end de-
vice) that is directly connected to one of the Ethernet interfaces
of the DATA+ BOX via a network switch/router.
At the plant, the Ethernet connections are set in such a way
that the port ETH 0 serves as a DHCP client to get an IP ad-
dress assigned by a DHCP server existing in a network. The
ETH 1 post has a fixed IP address and provides a DHCP
server to assign an IP address to a connected PC / laptop.
