LOCK -OUT
Purpose:
To prevent injury to workers caused by unexpected start-up of machines being worked on.
OR
Where the starting of a machine or device may endanger the safety of a worker.
a) Control switches or other control mechanisms shall be locked out;
AND
b) Other effective precautions necessary to prevent such starting shall be taken.
LOCK OUT PROCEDURE
Whenever work is to be performed on a machine, the following steps shall be taken:
1. Operator shuts down the machine
2. The person in charge should follow Lockout procedures as is required by his organization.

The emergency switch, which is used to turn the hydraulics off, should not be the only means
of shutting the power off before cleaning or performing maintenance to the machine. The main
power disconnect should be switched off and locked.

When performing maintenance on the electrical system the main disconnect, which supplies
power from the electrical service to the machine, should be switched off.

Allow three minutes after turning off the power from the main electrical service to the saw before
opening any electrical enclosures. Your machine might be equipped with a variable frequency
