17.3 Checking the basic position of the shift lever

When driving, the shift lever must not touch the rider's boot when in the basic position.
When the shift lever keeps touching the boot, the transmission will be subject to an excessive load.

At least five threaded ends must be screwed into the seat-
ing.

Nut, shift rod M6LH 6 Nm (4.4 lbf ft)
After the nuts have been tightened, the bearings of the shift
rod must be central and aligned identically to each other in
order to ensure freedom of movement in the bearing shells.

Check the shift lever to ensure it is functioning properly and
can move freely.
