The default guide width setting for Automower
®
305,
308 and Gardena R70Li is
Medium
. In general as
wide a corridor as possible should be used. As well
as reducing the risk of tracks forming, it also makes it
easier for the robotic lawnmower to follow the guide
wire. If however there are narrow passages in the
working area through which the robotic lawnmower
has to drive, it may be necessary to use a narrower
corridor.
1.13 Searching methods to find the
charging station
When the charge level in the battery has dropped to
300 mAh or the voltage in the battery has dropped
to 17.7 volts, the robotic lawnmower shuts down the
blade motor and starts searching for the charging
station.
The robotic lawnmower always follows the guide wire
to find the charging station. When the mower has
to move towards the charging station the following
happens:
1. The robotic lawnmower searches for the
guide wire by travelling in an irregular
pattern.
2. When the guide wire has been found the
mower positions itself directly over the wire,
facing towards the charging station.
3. The robotic lawnmower first runs an
irregularly selected distance away from the
guide wire. Then the mower runs parallel to
the guide wire toward the charging station.
If the guide width
Narrow
is selected, the
mower goes directly to the charging station
(does not apply to GARDENA R40Li).
4. When the mower reaches the F field
(F value 85-100), it reverses in towards the
guide wire and positions itself directly over
the wire, with its rear towards the charging
station. The distance from the charging
station where the mower reverses towards
the guide wire is irregularly selected in order
to minimise wear to the lawn.
If the guide width
Narrow
is selected, the
mower turns 180 degrees directly over the
guide wire when it detects the F field (does
not apply to GARDENA R40Li).
5. The mower reverses towards the charging
station and docks.
If the robotic lawnmower encounters an obstacle while
following the guide wire, it deviates from guide wire and
starts to search for the guide wire again. When it next
finds the guide wire it selects another distance at which
to follow it.
1.14 Docking and charging
When the robotic lawnmower enters the charging station,
this is called docking.
When the charging strips on the robotic lawnmower
make contact with the contact strips on the charging
station, the mower stops and charging begins.
