Checking Upstream Port Optical Power
21
•
When measuring Upstream port optical power, do not stand close to or look into the optical port
without eye protection.
•
The MA5811S-AE08 optical power meets the following requirements:
GPON:
–27 dBm to –8 dBm
10G GPON:
– 27 dBm to –7dBm
GE:
–19.5 dBm to –3 dBm
10GE:
-14.4 dBm to 0.5dBm
•
When the receive optical power is close to the critical value, the MA5811S-AE08 can be functional
for a short period of time. To ensure that the MA5811S-AE08 is functional for a long period of time,
adjust the receive optical power.
1. Set the wavelength of an optical power meter to 1490 nm and use it to measure the output power
on optical fibers.
2. If the test result exceeds the preceding range, use an optical attenuator on the OLT side to
decrease the input optical power of the MA5811S-AE08.
3. Measure and verify that the input optical power of the MA5811S-AE08 is within the supported
range.
