Hard drives
The four lower drive bays can accommodate 3.5-inch non-hot-plug SAS or SATA hard drives. The
following drive capacities are supported.
•
Non-hot-plug SAS HDD – 146-, 300-, 400-, and 450-GB
•
Non-hot-plug SATA HDD – 160-, 250-, 500-, and 750-GB; 1-TB
IMPORTANT:
SAS hard drives require that you also install a SAS controller board. This board
should be installed in the full-height/full-length PCIe Gen1 x8 expansion slot. For more information

To install a hard drive:
1.
Perform the pre-installation procedure.
2.
Remove the HDD EMI shield.
a.
Loosen the HDD EMI shield thumbscrew (

).
b.
Slide the shield slightly to the right to release the shield tabs (

), and then pull it away from
the chassis (

).
3.
Do one of the following:
○
If you intend to replace an old hard drive, proceed to step 4.
○
If you intend to install an additional hard drive, proceed to step 5.
