NOTE:

The DON’T ERASE logical disk supports the recovery process only and does not host the secondary

operating system. If you need to perform a system recovery for your server, see the instructions inside the

HP ProLiant Storage Server System Installation and Recovery DVD. Be sure to back up your user data,

and then use the DVD to restore the server to the factory default state.

Data volumes are not carved at the factory or by the System Installation and Recovery DVD, and must be

con

gured manually by the end user.

If the operating system has a failure that might result from corrupt system

les, a corrupt registry, or the

system hangs during boot, refer to "

System installation and recovery

" on page 143.

Be sure to back up your user data, and then use the System Installation and Recovery DVD to restore the

server to the factory default state as soon as conveniently possible.

The MSA20 storage enclosure for the DL380 G5 2 TB Storage Server is con

gured for hardware RAID

fault tolerance using the HP Smart Array 6402 RAID Controller. The SATA HDDs are hot-pluggable and

hot-swappable.
