Server Access
Removing the I/O Module
Use the procedure in the preceding section, “Accessing the I/O Module,” to install or
replace hot-plug fans or hot-plug PCI/PCI-X expansion boards. To replace or service
non-hot-plug components or problems in the I/O module, remove the module from
the chassis:
CAUTION:
Do not attempt to remove the I/O module while power is applied to the
system. The I/O module is not hot-pluggable. Immediate system shutdown and data
loss will occur.
1.
If the computer is on, back up your data and power down the server. Refer to
Chapter 7.
2.
Disconnect the power cords from the server.
3.
If you are replacing an item, it may be necessary to remove all of the cables
connected to the I/O expansion boards.
4.
Loosen the cable management arm with the thumbscrew attached to the cable
management arm bracket (1), and lift the cable management arm up to disconnect
it (2). Rotate the arm out of the way. For clarity, the cable management arm is
not shown in the figure.
