Step 4: Setting up your Computer’s Internet
Connection
This section shows you how to set up your computer so you
can connect to the Internet using your HP Fax Modem. Skip
this section if you do
not
want to use your modem to connect
to the Internet.
If you have already installed and set up a modem on your PC,
the exact setup procedure may differ from the one shown.
In Windows 95
Before you start, you must have your Internet Service
Provider’s phone number handy. If you do not have an
Internet Service Provider, you will need to get one before
proceeding.

Click the
Start
button then click
Settings Control
Panel
.
2 Double-click the
Internet
icon.
3 Select the
Connection
tab.
4 Click the check box
Connect to the Internet as
needed
.
5 Click the
Add
button.

You are then asked to enter a connection name. You can
leave the name suggested or you can enter your own.
7 Under
Select a modem
, you should see
HP Fast Modem
with V90
, your newly installed modem. If you do not,
select it from the drop-down list.
8 Click
Next
