Charger
The charger is a piece of electrical equipment that carries voltages and currents which are
dangerous for human beings. The charger should be operated only by instructed and trained
specialists. Disconnect the mains supply as well as the connection to the battery, if necessary,
before intervening in and doing any work on the charger.
The charger should be opened and repaired only by qualified electricians.
ATTENTION!
Any damage or other defects on the charger may lead to accidents.
If you determine safety-related changes or other defects in the charger or in its operating
behaviour, you should no longer use it until it has been repaired properly.
You have to notify the service department promptly if defects are identified.
A defective charger has to be marked and taken out of service.
Put the charger back into operation only after localising and rectifying the defect.
1. Check the charger at least bi-annually for internal dirt or contamination and clean it.
Work on the inside of the charger should be carried out only by qualified electricians.
2. With more stringent requirements such as considerable incidence of dust or severe
temperature fluctuations, the intervals have to be reduced reasonably. Contact the
specialist in charge in case of any doubts.
Before every charging, check whether:
-
the mains connection is undamaged,
-
the housing is not damaged,
-
the insulation of the charging cable and mains connection cable is not damaged,
-
the charging plug is undamaged,
-
all external plug connections are tightened.
Requirements for maintenance work:
-
Switch the battery charger off (pull the mains plug)
-
Disconnect the battery from the charger (pull the charger plug or remove the
charger cable from the terminals)
-
The housing of the battery charger should be opened only 5 minutes after
disconnecting the charger from the battery and the mains. The capacitors can get
discharged by doing so
-
Remove the housing screws from the housing doors
-
Open/Remove the housing door to the side
ATTENTION!
When opening the charger door, make sure that the earth cable fixed to it does not get damaged
