OPERATION
1.
The W8710A Equipment Monitoring System evaluates
system performance by comparing actual return and
supply air sensor readings to its own calculations. An
important calculation is the temperature difference
between the two sensors that is called Delta T or D/T.
2.
When the Equipment Monitoring system determines
that the operating temperature difference, D/T, is too far
off from its own calculation, an alert is generated and
the report will be sent. The Equipment Monitoring Sys-
tem is used to monitor heating and cooling systems.
3.
The Equipment Monitoring System uses the national
industry average to determine that a 55° F calculated
D/T is the best temperature rise for most gas heat sys-
tems. The calculated D/T is factory set at 55° F and, if
necessary, can be adjusted for your individual system
and area. See Customizing Standard Calibration Set-
tings section.
4.
The factory-set tolerance range in a gas heating appli-
cation is +/-20°F calculated D/T. (This example has a
tolerance range of 35°F to 75°F.) If desired, the toler-
ance range can be increased or decreased for individ-
ual system requirements. See Entering Custom Setup
section.
