Calibrating Temperature and Humidity
Sensors
NOTE: The W8710A uses state-of-the-art solid-state return
and supply air sensors selected for accuracy, stabil-
ity and ruggedness. These sensors are all calibrated
at the factory but can be recalibrated, as necessary.
IMPORTANT
Recalibrate sensors only if the variation is more than
3° or 4°. Be sure the thermostat System switch is set
to Off before recalibrating.
Calibrating Temperature Sensor
1.
Install the return and supply air sensor pods in the duct
system.
2.
Place digital thermocouple as close as possible to the
air end tip of the black return air sensor pod.
3.
Turn on System Fan only and do not disturb for five to
ten minutes to allow sensor and thermocouple to stabi-
lize.
4.
Press 6 key on the Handheld Programmer.
5.
Press 2 key for temperature.
6.
Press Yes or No key to confirm.
7.
Press UP or DN key to adjust return air temperature
sensor.
8.
Press Enter key to accept return air temperature setting.
9.
Adjust supply air temperature to the same reading as
the return air temperature.
NOTE: After System Fan is on for five to ten minutes, make
sure the supply air temperature setting is
identical
to
the return air temperature setting.
Calibrating Humidity Sensor
NOTE: Be sure sensors have enough time to stabilize (ten
minutes) before beginning step 1.
1.
Press CAL/6 key on Handheld Programmer.
2.
Press 3 key for humidity.
3.
Press Yes or No key to confirm.
4.
Press Up or DN key to adjust humidity sensor to match
reading from sling psychrometer or other calibrated test
equipment.
5.
Press Enter key to accept humidity reading.
Calibrating Quick Heat
Quick heat calibration is an easy way to
manually
adjust the
heat calibration D/T.
IMPORTANT
Only heat calibrated D/T can be changed. Cool cali-
brated D/T cannot be changed using this method.
When gas heat and heat D/T rise above 80°:
1.
Increase the blower one speed higher or
2.
Increase the CALC D/T using Quick Heat calibration
steps.
3.
Press 6 key on the Handheld Programmer.
4.
Press 4 key for D/T.
5.
Observe calculated D/T displayed.
6.
Press UP or DN key to adjust D/T.
