STARTUP AND CHECKOUT
Configuring Your System
To perform the following steps, you must have:
— Handheld Programmer
— Registered contractor code.
a. If you do not have a handheld Programmer, pur-
chase part no. 32005322-001.
b. If you have not registered and have not received
your contractor code, go to
http://customer.honey-
well.com
and register now.
c. If you do not have access to the internet, call 1-800-
318-0815 for assistance with registering.
To configure the system:
1.
Turn on the power to the HVAC system.
2.
Turn the W8710A power switch to the On position.The
red LED located on the W8710A flashes for five sec-
onds and then remains steady. If the LED is not operat-
ing correctly, see the Troubleshooting section.
3.
Set the Fan switch at the thermostat to the On position.
4.
Plug in the Handheld Programmer. The LED on the
W8710A flashes once or twice, then remains on.
5.
Observe the software versions appearing on the screen.
NOTE: If the Handheld programmer display is showing the
customer code, go to step 7.
6.
The Handheld Programmer displays the Contractor
Code. If this is your contractor code, press Yes. If this is
not your code, press No and enter your Contractor
Code.
NOTE: If you have not registered and have not received
your contractor code, go to

and register now. If you do not have access
to the internet, call 1-800-318-0815 for assistance
with registering.
7.
The Handheld Programmer displays the Customer
Code. Enter any number up to eight digits to identify
your customer. This could be the customer’s phone
number or their account number.
8.
Fill out the Customer Web access information in the
Owner’s Guide now with your contractor code followed
by the customer code and provide to the customer. The
customer can use this to view information about their
system online.
9.
The Handheld Programmer displays the Access
Code.The display should show 0. Press yes.
10.
The Handheld Programmer displays “Status OK.”
11.
Turn on the blower and run it without heating or cooling
for at least five minutes.
a. Press the S/A key to view the supply air tempera-
ture.
b. Press the R/A key to view the return air tempera-
ture.
NOTE: If the return and supply air temperatures vary more
than 1°F, adjust the supply sensor.
— To do this, press the CAL/6 key and then the 2 key to
display 2-TEMP.
— Then press the Yes key to display ADJ. TEMPERA-
TURE SENSORS YES.
— At the next screen, RETURN TEMP= XX UP/DN OR
ENTER, press the up or down key until the supply air
temperature equals the return air temperature.
NOTE: You do not have to adjust the sensors to your ther-
mostat readings. But be sure the supply temperature
reading equals the return temperature reading.
c. Press the R/H key to view the relative humidity at
the return air.
IMPORTANT
All W8710A are shipped from the factory with stan-
dard calibration for gas heat with air conditioning.
