Mounting W8710A Equipment Monitor
CAUTION
Equipment Damage Hazard.
Mounting the W8710A inside any HVAC equipment
can damage the W8710A.
Mount W8710A on the wall or the return air duct.
1.
After selecting the mounting location, drive a sheet
metal screw (not supplied) into the ductwork, leaving
the head of the screw 1/8 in. from the wall or duct. See
Fig. 2.
2.
Remove the set screw holding the front cover and swing
open.
3.
Hook the W8710A onto the sheet metal screw, and
mark the location for the second mounting screw.
4.
While holding the W8710A in place, drive the second
mounting screw (not supplied) where marked.
Mounting Return and Supply Temperature
Sensors
1.
Drill a 1-1/8 in. hole for each of the return (black) and
supply (gray) temperature sensors.
2.
Mount the black return and gray supply temperature
sensors.
3.
Secure the sensors with sheet metal screws (not sup-
plied) in the slots.
IMPORTANT
— Install the black return air sensor where it cannot be
exposed to water from a frozen evaporator coil or
overflow drip.
— Install the gray supply air sensor at least 18 in. down-
stream from the furnace and/or evaporator coil.
4.
Connect the 15-ft cable from the gray supply sensor to
the connector marked S/A on the W8710A. See Fig. 2.
5.
Connect the 7-ft cable from the black return sensor to
the connector marked R/A on W8710A.

WIRING
Wiring W8710A to Heating and Cooling
Equipment
CAUTION
Personal Electric Shock Hazard.
Can cause electrical shock or equipment damage.
Disconnect power before beginning installation.
1.
See Fig. 3 and 4 for wiring diagrams.
2.
Loosen the terminal screws on the W8710A and con-
nect the system wires. See Fig. 3.
3.
Securely tighten each terminal screw.
