If Your Engine Quits or Won’t
Start
SYMPTOM: Engine starts, but runs poorly.

detonates or pings
under load If applicable, switch to the
recommended octane petrol
(page 129) or change your
brand of petrol. If the problem
persists, see your dealer.
afterfires (backfires) See your dealer.
pre-ignition (runs on
after ignition switched
OFF) See your dealer.
SYMPTOM: Engine starts, but runs poorly or dies when
hot.
