UNDERSTANDING THE PLUG-IN HYBRID SYSTEM
Your vehicle is able to operate in electric, hybrid, charge, or full engine mode.
Selectable Driving Modes
Use the HV button
to switch between
the modes below.
Electric (EV) Mode
Your vehicle runs in EV mode for about
10-15 miles at low to moderate speeds
when the electric battery is fully
charged. When the battery charge
begins to run low, the vehicle switches
to HV mode.
Hybrid (HV) Mode
Press the HV button to switch from
electric to hybrid mode. The electric
battery maintains its current charge
level while the gas engine and
generator supply electricity to the
battery and electric motor. Press
again to return to EV mode.
HV Charge Mode
Press and hold the HV button to
charge the electric battery while in
hybrid mode (fuel economy will be
reduced). When the electric battery is
fully charged, the vehicle switches to
hybrid mode. Press again to return to
EV mode.
