How to sanitize
1. Turn water heater power OFF at the command center
(both switches: electric and LP gas). Turn the water
heater gas valve OFF (located outside the RV).
2. Bypass the water heater (valve 4 OFF, valve 5 ON).
3. Level the RV and drain the fresh water system (see
Draining the Fresh Water System).
4. Water heater should be empty (and bypassed) after
performing Step 2.
5. Close the low point drain valves and the fresh water tank
drain valve.
6. Prepare a chlorine solution using 1/4 cup of household
bleach (sodium hypochlorite solution) to one gallon
(3.785 liters) of water in a container. Prepare one gallon
of solution for every 15 gallons of tank capacity. This
will result in a residual chlorine concentration of 50 ppm
in the water system.
If a 100-ppm concentration is required as discussed in
step 16, use ½ cup of household bleach with one gallon
of water to prepare the chlorine solution. One gallon of the solution should be used for
each 15 gallons of tank capacity.
7. Put the sanitizer solution in the fresh water tank; insert the end of the siphon hose into
a container of sanitizing solution.
Valve 1 should be turned so it points toward the water pump.
Valve 2 should be turned so it points toward valve 3.
Valve 3 should be turned ON.
8. Turn the water pump ON. Sanitizer will be drawn out of the container and into the
water lines of the RV and the fresh water tank. Leaving all fixtures in the RV closed
will send the sanitizer into the fresh water tank.
9. After the required amount of sanitizer is in the fresh water tank, turn the pump OFF.
Remove the siphon hose from the container.
10. Finish filling the fresh water tank with fresh water. Use the fresh water connection inlet
on the outside of the RV. Attach a hose to the fresh water connection inlet, the other end
of the hose to a pressurized water source. Turn the water source ON and fill the tank.
11. Once the tank is full of sanitizer and fresh water:
Valve 1 should be turned so it points away from the siphon hose.
Valve 2 should be turned so it points toward the fresh water tank line.
NOTE:
Fresh water tank sizes vary by model; contact your dealer
or Customer Service for your specific tank size.
