Acquiring a GPS Satellite Fix
In order for the NAVIGATOR to find your current location, it requires a GPS
satellite fix. To acquire a GPS fix, it is important that you are in an area open to
the sky, (not inside an enclosed building) and away from tall buildings and
trees. The initial fix may take anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes and should be
performed whilst stationary. The length of time to obtain a fix will be
significantly reduced the next time the navigation software is started in a
similar location. A minimum of four satellites with adequate signal are required
to establish an accurate GPS fix.
The following screen shows the GPS Status page before a GPS fix has been
established. The GPS On indicator is red and only one satellite has been
located.
NOTE
If your HN7 has been turned off for a number of days and/or has
significantly moved location, the length of time to obtain a GPS fix will
be longer.
