Typical network configuration
A branch can accommodate sensors with wavelengths corresponding to all standard
HBK FS wavelengths. The number of sensors in a channel can vary if there is previous
knowledge about the spectral range the sensors will cover. The major concern is the
overlap of adjacent sensors. The available optical channels have simultaneous acquisi
tion, meaning that the sensing network can have a large number of fiber Bragg grating
sensors interrogated at the same time.
The employed technology allows multi-functionality meaning that on the same branch it
is possible to measure Strain, Temperature, Displacement, Pressure, Acceleration, etc
…
The sensing network can be placed up to 10 km from the interrogator without significant
losses on transmission over the optical fiber, operating under EM/RF interferences.
Each fiber Bragg grating sensor has a characteristic central wavelength (λ
0
) that depends
only on the measurand. This means that with this technology there is no need for recali
brations every time the system is shut down. The Industrial BraggMETER DI is a ruggedi
zed interrogator designed for 24/7 operation.
