Navigating through your text
No matter what the source of your text, once Auto-Lektor says "Text in Buffer", the text has
been loaded into the Buffer and ready to be read. Press RE to begin reading from the
beginning.
Reading can be interrupted at any time by pressing PA. This key acts like a switch; the
next time you press it, Auto-Lektor will resume reading. In Pause Mode, if you have more
than once page in the Buffer, you can move forward and backward by pressing NP and
PP. If you have only one page, pressing NP will take you to the end of the Buffer; if you do
that and then press PP, Auto-Lektor will take you to the beginning of the page, and say
Page number 1, and read the first few words. Each time you move to a new page, Auto-
Lektor will announce the page number and speak the first few words.
You can also move forwards and backwards by paragraph, by pressing NT and PT -
Previous Title. When you move to a new paragraph, Auto-Lektor will read the first
sentence of the paragraph you have moved to.
You can also move forwards and backwards sentences using PS and NS. Auto-Lektor will
read the whole of the sentence you have moved to; if you press PS or NS while Auto-
Lektor is reading, this will interrupt the reading, move to the previous or next sentence and
begin reading the new sentence.
You can also move by word using PW and NW. Auto-Lektor will speak the word you have
moved to.
To check the spelling a word, use PL and NL to move character by character. Auto-Lektor
speaks each character as you move to it.
In all these cases, the reading cursor moves, so that if you begin reading again using PA to
leave Pause Mode, reading will begin from the cursor position.
You can also begin reading again from the beginning using RE.
When you switch Auto-Lektor off, all the text in the Buffer is saved, and the cursor position
is saved also. Next time you switch on, you can use PA to begin reading exactly where you
left off.

flat on the glass - press it down if necessary - and that its edges are parallel to the edge of
the scanner.

scanner head will move, and the next message will be "new text in the Buffer".
If you are scanning a smaller book, that will fit completely on the glass, both pages are
scanned at once. In this case, it is very important to press the centre of the book carefully
on the glass, so that the centre of the book where the pages join is as flat as possible.
