small hole in the back of the BraillePen. To press the Reset switch, first make sure your
BraillePen is off, and then gently insert a narrow object, such as the tip of a ballpoint pen
or a paper-clip into hole and press gently. Now switch your BraillePen on again, and it
should connect normally.
Charging the BraillePen
BraillePen keyboard is battery-operated, and it works best when it has plenty of charge.
To conserve battery power, if you don't press a key for a set period, BraillePen will turn off
automatically, making a single beep as it does so. You receive a quiet warning beep a
minute and a half before automatic switch-off.
Here is the full list of BraillePen battery sounds:
One long beep, pause, three short beeps means that the unit is not connected to the
power and the battery is fully charged.
One long beep, pause, two short beeps means that the unit is not connected to the power,
and the battery is charged to half its capacity.
One long beep, pause, one long beep means that the unit is not connected to the power,
and that the battery is drained and needs to be recharged immediately.
Two mid-length beeps means that the unit is connected to power and the battery is
charging, but doesn't report on the state of the battery.
Two mid-length beeps, pause, three short beeps means that the unit is on charge, and the
battery is already fully charged.
Using the BraillePen with Auto-Lektor
You can use the BraillePen with your Auto-Lektor in exactly the same way as you can use
a standard PC keyboard, for naming files, navigation and accessing the Auto-Lektor's
features.
Switch your BraillePen on first, and then your Auto-Lektor. Auto-Lektor will search for your
BraillePen as soon as it switches on, and connect automatically as soon as it finds it.
If your Auto-Lektor is already on, switch on your BraillePen; Auto-Lektor will find it within 20
seconds, since it starts a new Bluetooth search process every 20 seconds. You will hear
the single connection beep on the BraillePen once connection is established.
BraillePen Keystrokes
This table shows the combinations of BraillePen keys that correspond to each of the keys
on a standard PC keyboard, and is the table used for the USA and Poland.
Other tables may be used for other countries or languages. If your location requires a
different table it will be included elsewhere in this User Guide.
Where the BraillePen keys include Shift, Space or Control, remember that these are the
horizontal oval keys on the BraillePen, and they are named from left to right Shift, Space
and Control
