You should have received these from your Internet Service Provider. If you don't have
them, check with your provider or network administrator before setting up these
parameters.
At the time of writing Auto-Lektor is not able to download or send mail via GMail or Yahoo
accounts, since these providers require SSL connections. You should instead use the
email account set up with your Internet service account by your Internet Service Provider.
Setting up the email account details
First select Email as Text Source using SO or S. Then press F1 on the integrated
keyboard, or F11 on the external keyboard to enter the Email menu. Use F11 to step
through the choices until you hear "Enter email configuration from external keyboard", and
press F2 or F12.
The first prompt is "Enter POP3 server address, which refers to the server for your
incoming email. Type the address using the external keyboard and press the Enter key to
confirm. The next prompt asks for the POP3 port number; type this in using the number
keys above the alphabetic keys, and press Enter to confirm.
Next you are asked for the SMTP server address, which is entered in the same way as the
POP3 server address; then the SMTP port, entered in the same way as the POP3 port.
The next prompt asks you to "Enter your valid email address as sender". This is your full
email address in the form [email protected]. Make sure you enter both parts, either side
of the @ sign. Press Enter to confirm.
Then Auto-Lektor will ask for your username. This is the username you use to log in to
your email service; it could be the same as the first part of your email, but it might be
something different, which is why you are asked to enter it here. Type it in and press Enter
to confirm.
Then you are asked for your password. This is the password you use to log in to your
email service. Although Auto-Lektor will spell it out as you enter it, so that you can edit it if
you make a mistake, the password is encrypted for storage on Auto-Lektor, so it is secure.
Type it in and press Enter to confirm.
Auto-Lektor will now say "Email account parameters changed". No checking is done at this
stage, so you will need to send a test message to make sure you have all the settings
correct.
Sending a message
Press F1 to activate the Email Menu. Then press F1 again and step through to Write New
Message and press F2 to confirm.
Auto-Lektor will now give you the list of keystrokes you need to compose and send an
email.
The first keystroke is F5, to enter the recipient's email address. Once you press F5, you
can type in the address, and use the arrow keys and Backspace and Delete to edit as you
go.
When entering the recipient's email address, you can also use + and - on the Numpad
(Previous Title and Next Title) to step through your address book.
For this test message, you will be sending it to yourself, so type your own email address in
and press Enter to confirm. Auto-Lektor will read it back to you, so you can use F5 and
type it in again if it isn't correct.
