External Source
When external modulation source is selected, the signal generator receives the external
modulation signal from the
[FSK/Trig/Sync/Extmod]
connector on the rear panel.
5.12.5 OSK Rate
When internal modulation source is selected, press
[Mod] > Rate
softkey to set.
Use the numeric keypad or direction keys and knob to input the desired rate value.
The rate range is from 2mHz to 1MHz and the default is 100Hz.
Note: This menu will be grayed out and disabled when the external modulation source is selected.
5.12.6 Oscillate Time
Oscillate time is the oscillation period of internal crystal oscillator. The settable range of the
oscillate time is related to the OSK rate currently selected. Press
[Mod] >OscTime
softkey and
use the numeric keypad or direction keys and knob to input the desired time. The default range is
from 8ns to 4.99975ms.
5.13 PWM Modulation
A modulated waveform consists of a carrier waveform and a modulating waveform. In PWM, the
pulse width of the carrier waveform varies with the voltage level of the modulating waveform.
5.13.1 Select PWM Modulation
PWM is only available for the Square waveform.
Press
[Wave] > Square
softkey, and then press
[Mod] >Type >PWM
softkey to enable the PWM
function.
If the
Square
function has not been selected as carrier waveform, PWM in
[Mod] >Type
menu is unavailable.
When
Mod
is enabled,
Sweep
or
Burst
will be automatically disabled (if enabled currently).
After PWM is enabled, the instrument will generate PWM waveform with the currently
specified carrier and modulating waveforms.
5.13.2 Carrier Waveform Shape
PWM is only available for the Square waveform. Press
[Wave]>Square
.
