Charging the batteries
Consult the following documentation on charging the batteries:
Regulations relating to batteries
The battery charger manual, or the instructions on the battery charger.
The scooter uses gel batteries which are fully encased and sealed and require no
maintenance.
Under normal use the batteries need to be charged every night.
Charge the batteries as follows:
•
Switch off the scooter.
•
Plug the charging cable into the charging point. See ‘Charging point’.
•
Plug the battery charger into the wall socket.
•
Turn on the battery charger (if the battery charger has an on/off switch).
Use only maximum 5 A battery chargers.
Safety:
The scooter can not be used once the charging cable plug has been
connected to the charging point.
The battery charger has been designed to ensure that batteries can not
be too highly charged. If the batteries are no longer charging, the
charging current is drastically reduced until charging is terminated -
the batteries are fully charged. The minimum duration for charging gel
batteries is approximately 8 hours. Most batteries are 80% charged
after 8-12 hours of charging.
Once the batteries are charged you must:
•
Turn off the battery charger, if applicable.
•
Unplug the battery charger from the wall socket.
•
Disconnect the charger from the charging point on the scooter.
The scooter is now ready for use.
Always remove the charging cable once the batteries have been
charged. This prevents the batteries from slowly running down.
