Semmelweis Scanner – User Guide v22.03
21
Please note that EAP certificates cannot
be uploaded via the Reporting System.
If the target network uses WPA/WPA2
Enterprise
security
with
client
side
certificates, then the Support Team of
HandInScan need to be involved in copying
the certificates to the scanner. In such a case
please contact your local distributor partner
or [email protected] and book a
timeslot for the WiFi setup.
The scanner can use DHCP and Manual
Addressing. DHCP is common, but in some
cases a static IP address is preferred. That
setting can be entered at the above form.
There can be many WiFi settings available for the scanner at the same time. It tries to
connect to each of them one by one.
4.9. Deploying new settings on the scanner
Once the settings are saved in the Reporting System the scanner should download and use them.
To download the settings the scanner need to have some kind of internet connection. For this
purpose, we recommend using a mobile hotspot with the default wifi settings detailed above
(handinscan / budapest). The scanner tries to download the settings once a minute, so we
recommend the following steps.
1. Set up the target WiFi settings in the Reporting System.
2. Turn off the scanner.
3. Create a mobile hotspot (SSID: handinscan / password: budapest).
4. Turn on the scanner and wait for 5 minutes to make sure it was able to download the new
settings.
5. Turn off the mobile hotspot.
6. Restart the scanner.
7. After the restart, the scanner should join to the new WiFi network.
4.10. Offline WiFi settings
If the scanner cannot connect to the Reporting system because it is not possible to create the
default WiFi network (SSID: handinscan Preshared-key (password): budapest), no other WiFi
network is specified and no mobile internet connection is available, then you can also launch a
graphical interface on the Semmelweis Scanner to enter the data required for connecting to a
WiFi network as a tertiary solution (see below).
