Do not insert or remove the CF card when the router is booting or the LED is blinking
to avoid hardware damage.
z
To protect the removed CF card, place it in an antistatic bag.
8.12 Installing and Removing a Memory Module
Note:
The RPE-X1s and LPUs are equipped with memory modules. Before installing or
removing a memory module, remove the RPE-X1 or LPU from the chassis first. For
details about how to remove an RPE-X1 or FIP-100/FIP-200, refer to section 8.5.3
"Removing an FIP-100/FIP-200" on page 8-10.
8.12.1 When to Replace a Memory Module
Memory modules are removable components on the main board.
Generally, you need to replace a memory module in the following situations:

More memory is needed to upgrade the application program.
z
The router needs to maintain a large routing table or support other highly memory
consuming operations.
z
An existing memory module is damaged.
Caution:

Use the memory modules provided by Hangzhou H3C Technologies Co., Ltd. only.
Otherwise, anomalies might occur to the device.
z
For specific specifications of memory modules supported by the device, refer to
section 1.4.1.III “Memory module” in Chapter 1 “Router Overview”.
