Configuring the link aggregation capability for the 
device 

Perform this task to modify the maximum number of aggregation groups and the maximum number 
of Selected ports per aggregation group. 

After you configure the link aggregation capability for the device, save the configuration and reboot 
the device for the configuration to take effect. Before rebooting the device, make sure you know the 
possible impact on the network. 

For link aggregation to operate correctly, set the same link aggregation capability for both ends of an 
aggregate link. 

The maximum number of Selected ports allowed in an aggregation group is limited by one of the 
following values, whichever value is smaller: 

•

 

Maximum number set by using the 

link-aggregation selected-port maximum

 command. 

•

 

Maximum number of Selected ports allowed by the link aggregation capability. 

To configure the link aggregation capability for the device:
