On the STB you can play two games: Tetris and Life.

TETRIS

When choosing TETRIS in the Game menu you’ll be asked about the level you prefer. Enter the level
(0-9) you’d like to start with and press       .
Operating:
         move a figure horizontally

         drop a figure

         speed up the falling of a figure

         turn over a figure

LIFE

Action occurs on the field divided into cells. Each cell is surrounded with 8 similar cells  (Moore’s
vicinity). Each cell can exist in two conditions - alive or dead, i.e. empty. Any cell condition is influ-
enced by the condition of the surrounding cells. This condition is discrete in time according to some
rules (or genetic laws) of Konvej. There are two laws of Konvej:
1. Survival or destruction. If an alive cell has less than 2 or more then 3 neighbors in a vicinity
from 8 cells, it dies next generation (modeling of real conditions - lack of feed or overpopulation),
otherwise it survives.
2. Birth. A live cell can appear in an empty cell if the initial cell has exactly 3 neighbors. The de-
struction and the birth of all organisms occur simultaneously.
 Situations arising in the game are very similar to the real processes, occurring at origin, development
and destruction of live organisms.
Game “Life” is one of so-called modeling games - games which to some extent simulate real life proc-
esses.
The basic idea of the game is that, having started with any simple arrangement of alive cells, to track
the evolution of the initial position, affected by genetic laws of Konvej, which operate a birth, destruc-
tion and a survival of cells. Genetic laws of Konvej satisfy to three basic conditions:
1. There cannot be initial configuration for which there would be a simple proof of an opportunity for
unlimited population growth;
2. There must be such initial configurations which obviously possess the ability to develop infinitely;
3.  There must be simple initial configurations, which grow during a significant time interval, undergo
various changes and finish the evolution in one of the three ways:
– completely disappear;
– pass in a steady configuration and stop changing in general;
– pass to the oscillatory mode with a certain period

Sometimes the colony of cells gradually dies out, however it cannot take place at once, only after
many generations are replaced. In the majority initial configurations either become steady and stop
changing or pass in an oscillatory mode forever.
Thus, the configurations, which didn’t possess symmetry in the beginning of the game, show the
tendency to symmetric forms. Given characteristics during the evolution are not lost, and symmetry of
the configuration can be only enriched.
Operating:
                  move the cursor on the game field
     put a cell
the Red            button – start/finish the game
the Green          button - clear the screen
the Yellow          button - make a move
the Blue            button - start demonstration
