4. Compact Disc

Normal Playback

With the built-in CD player you can play back both 12 cm
compact discs and 8 cm CDs.

Note

Only CDs with the following symbol can be played back on
your CD player:

Set the function switch to CD.

Press the OPEN/CLOSE contact surface on the lid of the CD
compartment in order to open it.

Insert the CD with the label facing up.

Close the CD compartment by hand.
This starts the CD player and the display shows 

00:00  00

.

The display then shows the number of tracks on the CD and
the CD's entire playing time and the CD player stops.

Press the

Ƿ

PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback.

As soon as playback begins, the display shows track number
1, when the second track is reached, the display shows 2, etc.

For short interruptions press the 

İ

Ƿ

PLAY/PAUSE button.

The display flashes (pause display).

To resume playback press the 

İ

Ƿ

PLAY/PAUSE button

again.

Adjust the volume and sound to the desired levels.

Note

Due to the very low noise level of CDs, you should take the
following into consideration when adjusting the volume.

If you adjust the volume as you would for conventional audio
sources, you may experience sudden high increases in volu-
me.

Especially when listening with headphones, you should avoid
high volume levels as these can cause damage to your hea-
ring.

Press the STOP button to end CD playback.

The CD player also stops when
– the end of the CD is reached,
– the batteries are weak or the electricity supply is interrup-

ted,

– the function switch is moved to another position.

To remove the CD, press the OPEN/CLOSE contact surface to
open the CD compartment.

To switch the unit off completely, set the function switch to
CASS

Fast Track Search

If you keep the  

ıı

or 

ľľ

pressed while playing back a CD,

you activate the fast forward or fast reverse search. During
the fast search procedure you can listen to the tracks (eg.
when searching for a certain passage).

Release the button when you have located the desired positi-
on on the CD. Playback then resumes at normal speed.

Note

Briefly pressing the button activates the skip function.
