9. Delivery, transport, storage

Check the extinguishing water booster set  care-

fully for transport damage and missing parts  on

delivery, and transport and store them  correctly

before installation.

9.1 Delivery

The entire sprinkler pump system is delivered from factory in an

open wooden box or in a closed box made of wood/plywood  de-

signed for transportation with forklift or pallet trucks.

9.2 Transport

Warning

When lifting the entire extinguishing water  boost-

er set, never use the lifting eyes of the  individual

components or the manifolds. Use only suitable

lifting equipment in proper  condition. See also

the weight specifications on  the nameplate.

When lifting, the lifting point should always be above the centre of

gravity of the sprinkler pump system.

9.3 Storage

Store the extinguishing water booster set in such

a way that corrosion and damage are avoided.

In order to prevent water, dust, etc. from entering the sprinkler

pump, all openings must be covered appropriately until the pipes

are installed. If this is not complied with, the costs involved in

dismantling the sprinkler pump to remove foreign bodies after  com-

missioning are considerable.
Turn the pump shaft manually once a month to prevent the

mechanical shaft seal from seizing up.

10. Installation

Warning
The extinguishing water booster set must be

installed and connected in accordance with local

regulations and by qualified personnel.

Installation of the extinguishing water booster

set must be carried out in accordance with the

following instructions. If these instructions are

not followed, malfunctions can result which can

cause damage to the sprinkler pump system.

10.1 Mounting

10.1.1 Installation site

Warning
Installation and operation in a potentially

explosive environment are not permissible.

Warning
The control cabinet must be placed so that water

from the pump or pipework cannot pose any  dan-

ger.
Warning
The permissible floor loading must not be

exceeded. The weight of the sprinkler pump

system is stated on the nameplate.
In case of an installation on a foundation also

consider the weight of the foundation.

The extinguishing water booster set Fire RS EN CR with its

associated control is only suitable for indoor installation.
It must be installed in a well ventilated, dry and frost-free location.

Especially the control cabinet should not be exposed to direct  solar

radiation.

The extinguishing water booster set should be positioned on an

even and solid surface, for instance a concrete floor or  founda-

tion.
Allow sufficient clearance around the extinguishing water booster

set to enable inspection, repair and assembly work.

10.1.2 Foundation

We recommend that you install the extinguishing water booster  set

on a concrete foundation which is heavy enough to provide  perma-

nent and rigid support for the entire system. The foundation  must

be capable of absorbing any vibration, normal strain or  shock.
As a rule of thumb, the weight of the concrete foundation should

be 1.5 times the weight of the extinguishing water booster set.

The concrete foundation must have an absolutely level and even

surface. In the foundation, install appropriate anchorage dowels  to

fasten the sprinkler pump system.
When setting up the foundation, make sure that the foundation is

200 mm larger in length and width than the dimensions of the  base

frame.
The minimum height of the foundation (hf) can be calculated as  fol-

lows, if the mass of the foundation is assumed to be 1.5 times  the

total mass of the sprinkler pump system:

10.1.3 Pump system

Place the extinguishing water booster set on the foundation or an

even floor and anchor it with adequately sized bolts. The entire

base frame must be supported.

10.1.4 Piping

h

The pipework must not stress the pump housing

or transfer any forces to the pump housing. Non-

compliance may damage the pumps.

The pipework connected to the extinguishing water booster set

must be of an adequate size and installed as straight as possible.

Install the pipes so that air locks are avoided, see fig.

 Recommendations for pipe installation

The pipes are connected to the manifolds of the extinguishing  wa-

ter booster set. Use the end not closed by a screw cap or  blanking

flange. Arrows on the pump base show the direction of  flow of

water through the pump.
Secure the pipes close to the sprinkler pump on the suction and

discharge side with pipe brackets attached to the building (wall,

ceiling, floor).

10.1.5 Control

Warning
When drilling holes, make sure not to damage

any wires or water and gas pipes. Furthermore,

ensure safe installation.

Mount the control cabinet on the wall as close as possible to the

pump system and within view of the pump system by means of

screws. Drill holes into the wall or floor according to the drilling

template on the back of the control cabinet, and use dowels and

screws of adequate size.
