For all operations on components containing artificial siliceous mineral fibres (ceramic
fibres, glass wool, rock wool), the operator must wear suitable protective clothing and
a breathing mask to avoid any risk specific to these products.
• Temperature control / thermometer
The temperature sensor in the heating control unit and, where appropriate, the solar energy
controller and/or the thermostat sensor must be installed in the correct plunger tube. The
height of the component determines the reheating switching point. The temperature is
read on the thermometer (no provided). It must be installed in coupling G1/2 on the front
of the unit.
• Verification of correct operation
- During heating, the water drips out of the safety unit drain hole (this hole should be
connected to the drain). This phenomenon is normal. The water expands as it is heated,
and the additional volume can reach 2 to 3% of the device's capacity.
- Check the watertightness of the pipe connection.
- Check that the hydraulic components are operating correctly by putting the safety unit in
the drainage position and the stop position and vice versa to eliminate any build-up.
8. MAINTENANCE
The device you have just purchased should provide satisfactory service for many years as
long as this advice is followed:
•
IMPORTANT: put the safety unit in the drainage position at least once a month to
evacuate any deposits that can obstruct the safety unit's safety valve over time.
Failure to respect this maintenance rule can lead to the deterioration of the tank (not
covered by the warranty).
• Cleaning: once a year.
The cleaning frequency should be adjusted according to the
quality of the fluids stored (water hardness) and the volume of water consumed.
A
lateral inspection cover or manhole is provided for cleaning. Replace the seals each time it
is disassembled.
• Tank cleaning: the drainage tube placed at the lowest point of the tank enables it to be
drained fully.
• Specialist maintenance: have the watertightness and operation of the safety unit safety
valve checked at least every year. The valve should begin to open at its set pressure and
allow full flow at an additional 0.5 bar.
• Anode: The anodes should be inspected every year and replaced when three quarters of
the magnesium has been consumed. If there is not enough headroom beneath the ceiling,
anodes are available in a chain version (refer to the specific anode manual).
For insulated versions, inspect for wear without removing the anode. The values are given
as a guide, and were produced for water with a conductivity of 500 µs/cm.
Disconnect the anode from the tank, pulling out the lug on the anode. Measure the amperage
between the lug and the anode using a multimeter. If the amperage is less than 0.5 mA of
direct current on the first reading, replace the anode.
If the anode does not need to be
replaced, do not forget to reconnect it.
• If the tank is to remain without operating over the winter in premises where there is a risk
of freezing, the water must be kept above freezing point.
