with sludge, a filter must be fitted to the domestic cold water supply outlet feeding the tank.
The domestic hot water in the tank can reach a high temperature. It is thus essential to fit a
thermostatic mixing valve before water is distributed to the taps. The temperature setting at
the taps should comply with the regulations in force.
Recommendations:
In very hard-water regions (Th>20°F), the use of a softener will not
invalidate the warranty as long as the softener is set up in accordance with standard practice
and is checked and maintained regularly.
The water hardness must remain above 10°f.
5.1. Hydraulic safety
All installations must include hydraulic protection against:
1.
Excess pressure in the distribution network,
2.
Excess pressure due to rises in temperature (expansion during heating),
3.
Excess pressure due to the failure of a thermostat or a contactor relay.
Drainage due to excess pressure must not be impeded. This means that the drain tube must
have a continuous and sufficient slope and its diameter must be suited to the network.
Regardless of how the system is installed, it must have a cold water tap upstream of the
safety unit.
If COMPOSITE MATERIAL pipes (PER, PVC etc.) are used a temperature limiter must
be fitted to the tank output and adjusted according to the performance of the material
used.
5.2. Hydraulic safety dimensions
The safety unit must comply with the standard. It must be positioned directly on the cold
water inlet.
The scale of the hydraulic safety provision depends on the capacity of the device.
Table of recommended hydraulic safety systems for storage tanks:
Storage tank model
300
500
750
1000
1500
Safety unit
G 1"
G 1 ¼" (2 x G 1")
Important:
•
If an array of several devices is installed, a valve assembly must be fitted to each tank and
a non-return flap on the overall supply pipe.
•
If the pressure of the distribution network exceeds 5 bar, a pressure reducer must be fitted
to the overall supply pipe.
•
If metal piping is used, use a cast-iron sleeve or a dielectric pipe joint (brass connectors
are prohibited).
5.3. Hydraulic safety installation
5.3.1. Safety units:
Safety units are always installed on the cold water inlet to the tank. When installing the unit,
respect the flow direction indicated by arrows on the body of the security unit.
