SECTION 7: SERVICE
Troubleshooting
Motor & Electrical
Symptom
Possible Cause
Possible Solution
Machine does not
start, or power
supply breaker
immediately trips
after startup.
1. E-Stop button depressed/at fault.
2. Incorrect power supply voltage or circuit
size.
3. Power supply circuit breaker tripped or fuse
blown.
4. Computer board at fault.
5. Wiring broken, damaged, or disconnected.
6. Inverter/control box at fault.
7. Motor at fault.
1. Rotate E-Stop button head to reset. Replace if at
fault.
2. Ensure correct power supply voltage and circuit size
(
Page 14).
3. Ensure power supply circuit is not overloaded and is
free of shorts. Reset circuit breaker or replace fuse.
4. Inspect/replace if at fault.
5. Fix broken/damaged wires or disconnected/
corroded connections.
6. Inspect inverter/controller box; replace if at fault.
7. Test/repair/replace.
Machine stalls or is
underpowered.
1. Dull cutter or incorrect cutter type for task.
2. Machine undersized for task.
3. Spindle jammed.
4. Incorrect power supply voltage or circuit
size.
1. Replace/sharpen cutter. Use proper cutter for
cutting task.
2. Use correct cutter/reduce feed rate or depth of cut.
3. Disconnect power. Turn spindle by hand to identify/
fix cause of jam.
4. Ensure correct power supply voltage and circuit size
(
Page 14).
Machine has
vibration or noisy
operation.
1. Incorrect feed rate, spindle speed, or cutter
type.
2. Cutter dull/damaged or spindle/collet loose.
3. Workpiece loose.
4. Bit chattering.
5. Collet at fault.
6. Machine not level.
7. Spindle bearings at fault.
8. Vacuum motor at fault.
1. Use correct feed rate and spindle speed; use
different cutter.
2. Replace or sharpen cutter; tighten loose spindle;
replace defective spindle, collet, or spindle nut
(
Page 31).
3. Secure workpiece with clamps (
Page 32) or vacuum
table (
Page 32).
4. Replace/sharpen cutter; index cutter to workpiece;
use correct feed rate and spindle speed.
5. Replace collet.
6. Level machine (
Page 22).
7. Test by rotating spindle; rotational grinding/loose
shaft requires bearing replacement.
8. Check vacuum motor for missing bolts/nuts,
grinding bearings, or fan rubbing on cover. Repair/
replace as needed.
