The head of the saw slides up and down on gibs.
Over time, the gibs may need to be tightened to
compensate for wear. Loosen the jam nuts and
adjust the setscrews to reduce the “play” along
the gibs (
Figure 41). Always make small adjust-
ments to the setscrews, starting with
1
⁄
4
turn incre-
ments. When adjusted correctly, tighten the jam
nuts and make sure the head slides up and down
smoothly.
