STARTING THE ENGINE
Carry out the following checks:
Half-open the throttle (19 - fig. 2).
Open the petrol cock and set the starter (for petrol engines).
Use the choke lever as indicated in the engine manual (for Diesel engines).
Engage the safety device as in fig. 3.
Start the engine by pulling hard on the pull starter handle (fig.7).
Once the engine starts, release the choke (for petrol engines) and slowly return the throttle (19 - fig. 2)
back to the minimum.
Let the engine warm up for a few minutes before starting work and to ensure good running-in do not strain
the machine excessively during the first 50 hours’ use.
STARTING THE MACHINE
Pull the clutch cable (18 - fig. 2) and engage the gear required using the lever (1 - fig. 1). If the gear does
not engage immediately give a few light touches on the clutch.
Rev. up the engine using the throttle (19 - fig. 2), keeping the safety device pressed and slowly release
the clutch lever (18 - fig. 2) until the machine starts moving.
FINISHING WORK
Bring the throttle (19 - fig. 2) to the minimum setting, put the gear lever to neutral and release the engine
stop lever.
For petrol engines, close the fuel cock.
Always consult the engine instruction handbook.
MAINTENANCE
The 11500 rotovator is designed to require very little servicing, although to keep it at top efficiency the
following procedures are recommended:
– Check that all screws and nuts are always well tightened, especially those holding the tiller groups to
the shaft, the engine, the tiller blades and the rear foot support.
– Oil the throttle and clutch cables.
– Do not use mineral oil on rubber parts as this would damage them.
– Check that there is always a little slack in the clutch cable between the adjuster and the lever.
– Always check the oil levels and clean the air filter often.
LUBRICATION
Always carry out the operations which follow with the rotovator horizontal.
N.B.:
All oil changes must be made when the machine is warm to facilitate the complete drainage of all the old
oil. Do not unscrew the oil cap when the engine is running, as this would cause the loss of the oil in the
circuit.
ENGINE OIL:
Follow the instructions in the engine handbook carefully.
The oil level must be checked every 4 working hours and the oil changed every 50 hours approx.
Use MULTIGRADE15W/40 OIL in summer and in winter, in both petrol and Diesel engines.
AIR FILTER:
Check the oil level every 8 hours and even more often if working in very dusty conditions. Change fairly
often and use the same oil as for the engine for changes or top-ups.
GEARBOX OIL:
Check the level every 50 working hours approx. and if necessary, top up with 85 W/90 gearbox oil. Change
the oil once a year (quantity 1,350 Kg.).
To drain the old oil out of the gearbox casing, unscrew the screws on the cover around the tiller shaft (6 - fig. 1).
