Summary
A CRSC network can include a mix of different CR Series routers, panels, and remote panel
modules, in which the routers and remote panel modules have been configured in CRSC.
Among the devices in a CRSC network can be CR6400 family routers and CP6464 panels. In addi-
tion, a CRSC network can include two artificial panel types — the CP32-6464 and CP6401 —
panels that can control the 64×64 matrices of CR6400 routers.
The CP32-6464 “type” is really just a configuration option for an actual CP3232; similarly, the
CP6401 “type” is just a configuration option for an actual CP6464.
Although a CRSC network can contain many panel types, we focus here on those 3 panels: the
CP32-6464, CP6401, and CP6464. These panels are the ones that can control CR6400 routers.
Please refer to the CRSC User’s Guide for information regarding other routers and panels.
Terminology
 Please be aware that the definitions applicable to CRSC network operation often differ from
those applicable to stand-alone networks.
It is essential for the material that follows to define the terms “source” and “destination.”
In general, the terms source and destination refer to devices (e.g., VTRs, cameras, monitors) that
can be connected to the I/O cards of the router. However, in discussions of routers, we usually
think of sources and destinations only as the connectors to which a device is connected and we
ignore the devices. (In fact, the router functions properly regardless of whether it is actually
connected to any real devices.)
A port is a single I/O connection on a router.
An input port, or just input , is one that receives a signal.
An output port, or just output , is one that sends a signal.
