MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR
Impeller Clearance and Final Assembly
1. The clearance between the impeller and the in
ner edge of the suction cover should measure
between 0.02 and 0.035 inches (0,5 and 0,9
mm). Rotate the impeller by hand, and use a
feeler gauge to measure the clearance at differ
ent positions. To adjust impeller clearance,
loosen but do not remove, the screws (13) se
curing the suction cover to the volute casing.
Establish the correct clearance by tightening or
loosening the adjusting screws (74).
2. After impeller clearance has been established,
fully tighten the volute casing attaching screws
(13).
3. See
LUBRICATION
before returning the pump
to service.
Securing Pump to Stand
1. Use the lifting device to lower the pump onto the
stand (26).
2. Secure the pump to the stand with the screws
(164 and 165). Use the previously removed
hardware to secure the pump to the system dis
charge piping.
MOTOR DISASSEMBLY
Cooling Jacket Removal
Except where noted, all references are to FIGURE
E-2.
1. To support the motor assembly while removing
the cooling jacket, place the volute on the work
surface, lower the motor assembly into the vo
lute, and secure it with the screws (13, Figure
1).
2. Remove the screws (233) securing the lifting
handle (231) to the motor top cover (230), and
remove the handle.
3. Using a suitable hoist and sling on the tabs on
the side of the cooling jacket (402), lift the jacket
off the motor assembly. If necessary, use a soft‐
faced mallet to rap alternately around the seal
housing flange and on the motor top cover
(230) until the cooling jacket is free from the mo
tor assembly.
4. Remove the screws (13, Figure 1), reinstall the
lifting handle, and remove the motor assembly
from the volute casing.
All references are to FIGURE E-2.
Upper Seal Removal
NOTE
Use caution in Step 1; tension on the retainer
springs will be released.
1. With the pump end components and lower seal
assembly removed, remove the screws (254).
Use a pair of screwdrivers or other suitable tools
to pry the seal housing (257) out of the motor
housing (302). Remove the O‐rings (251, 252
and 403).
2. Loosen the retaining screws, and remove the
upper seal retainer and retainer springs from
the shaft.
3. Remove the seal rotating element and O‐ring.
4. Remove the hardware (221) and carefully pry
the bearing bracket cover (217) from the lower
bearing housing (213). Remove the O‐ring
(219).
5. Press the stationary seat and O‐ring out of the
bearing bracket cover from the back side.
