38. FIT REAR CASE
With the internal parts fully assembled the rear case can be placed on
top. Keep the shaft protruded so the top is level with the case.
Do not
fit the locking pin and end plate at this stage.
39. RE-TENSION MAIN SPRING
Use the winding fixture. If servicing a revised model remove the
spacer plate from the fixture.
Firmly grip the case and drum assembly. Flip over onto the winding
fixture and locate the main shaft on the locking pin.
Fit the winding arm supplied as part of the service kit to the
main shaft and lock the pin into the slot.
Before winding check that the case is correctly seated on
the fixture and all pins are fully located.
Take a firm grip of the drum and rotate the winding arm
clockwise, gradually putting tension onto the spring.
-
7 metre units require 23 winds.
-
14 metre units require maximum winds.
When the correct number of winds has been achieved, the winding
handle must be orientated so it is parallel with the top of the winding
fixture. This allows the main shaft locking pin to locate into the front
case.
If the winding arm needs to rotate anti-clockwise to achieve this,
keep a firm grip of the handle and drum, use your body to
disengage the bar protruding from the bottom of the fixture and wind
the handle backwards.
Release pressure from the bar, and then remove the winding arm.
40. SPOOL ROPE ONTO DRUM
(ONLY PRESENT ON REVISED MODELS)
With the unit still on the fixture gradually release the pressure from the
drum and allow it to rotate and pull the rope onto the drum.
Locate the rope guide into the slot of the rear case.
Do not remove the case from the fixture at this point.
