Using Your Toaster

1.  Place your toaster on a level, stable, heat resistant surface.
2.  Check the crumb tray is locked in position.
3.  Plug the appliance into the mains socket and switch on.
4.  Select the required browning setting (A).
5.  Place the bread slices into the toasting slots.
6.  Press down the bread carriage handle until it clicks (The bread will be lowered and
centred as the lever moves down).
7.  Release the pressure and the handle will stay in the lowered position. The heating
     process has begun.

Note: If the handle comes up immediately, check the appliance is plugged in,

as the bread carriage cannot lock if the toaster is not connected to the
     electricity supply.

8.  The Stop button (D) will illuminate blue while the toaster is in operation.
9.  When toasting is complete the toast will pop up and the Stop button light will go
     out.
10. To lift the toast further out of the slot, lift the carriage handle to the highest
      position.
11. Switch off at the mains socket, unplug and allow to cool.

CAUTION: The toaster surface will get hot during use, especially near the toast-
ing slots. ALWAYS allow the appliance to cool down before touching it.

NEVER use utensils to release trapped toast. This is extremely dangerous. Turn
off  the  appliance  at  the  mains  socket,  unplug,  allow  to  cool,  then  turn  the
toaster upside down and gently shake to release the trapped toast.

Toasting Hints and Tips

•  When toasting, use slices of similar size, thickness and freshness.
•  Old (yesterdays) bread contains less moisture, so makes crispier toast.
•  Old or thin bread cooks faster than fresh or thick bread – use a lighter setting.
•  Sweet bread products (tea cakes, fruit loaf, etc) brown much more quickly than

ordinary bread, so should be toasted on a lighter setting.
