Normal use
By purchasing this item, you have chosen a high-quality GEV product. Please read
these operating instructions carefully to ensure correct operation and keep them in
a safe place so that you can refer back to them if necessary. Use this product only
as intended (as described in the operating instructions). Do not alter, modify or paint
the device, as this will result in loss of warranty.
Notes on use

The LCT 865 twilight switch features a built-in digital clock and a lux sensor, and is intended
for outdoor use. The twilight switch can be used to control outdoor lighting or even other
systems, such as a garden fountain, pumps, etc. via a ﬂ oating contact.

Safety instructions

This device must be installed by a technician in accordance with the
applicable regulations. The electrical power supply and the circuit protection
must be switched off during the entire installation process. A circuit breaker

(230 V AC, 10 A) type C according to EN60898-1 shall be installed in the ﬁ xed wiring for
overload protection.
No liability will be accepted for any damage resulting from failure to observe these
instructions. We also accept no liability for any consequential material damage or bodily
injury caused by improper use or failure to observe the safety instructions. No warranty
claim may be made in these cases.
In addition, for safety and compliance reasons, you are not authorised to dismantle or
alter the device in any way.

Features

The twilight switch features a 24-hour digital clock.
The switching times for the lighting can be speciﬁ ed in blocks for the working week (Monday
to Friday), for the weekend (Saturday to Sunday) and for individual days.
7 switching cycles can also be set for each individual day and for days deﬁ ned in blocks
(blocks of days).

Activating/disabling switching times

The twilight switch's

"LERNEN/TEST"

function can be used to perform the following

commands:
- to carry out a function test,
- for automatic and manual reception of the DCF signal,
- to input and store the lux values required to trigger the switching times.

Installation position

The twilight switch must not be exposed to direct sunlight or installed in the immediate
vicinity of artifcial lighting

Avoid areas that are permanently in the shade.
The installation site should be even, vertical and north-facing.
Ensure that there is a minimum distance of approx. 3 m between the device and any
potential sources of interference. These include devices such as electrically controlled
metal cabinets, electric fences, fuse boxes, etc.

Installation/assembly
Ensure that the power supply is disconnected before installing the device!

Unscrew the housing cover and mount the twilight switch on the designated area. The
line entrance must be pointing downwards. Ensure that the mains cable that leads to the
twilight switch is in a ﬁ xed installation and is enclosed in the rubber seal (for a watertight
connection). Then, connect up the device as shown in the wiring diagram

(Fig. C)

. There

is a 1.5 mm² jumper between L (power supply) and D2 (ﬂ oating contact). This jumper must
be removed if the relay contact is to be used for extra-low voltage. Once you have correctly
connected the device, switch on the power supply.

Description of functions

The twilight switch will switch the lighting on after approx. 60 seconds if the ambient light
level is lower than the preset lux value and all switching programs are switched off .
If the lux value is set to "inﬁ nite"

, the twilight switch operates like a timer.

The red LED

(Fig. D7)

remains off if the ambient light level is higher than the preset lux value.

The red LED lights up if the ambient light level is lower than the preset lux value.
If the ambient light level remains lower than the lux value for more than 60 seconds, the
red LED stays on and the lighting or a ﬂ oating contact is switched according to the deﬁ ned
switching program.

If the ambient light level is higher than the preset lux value, the red LED stays on and the
lighting or ﬂ oating contact remains off , despite the preset switch-on program.

Setting the current time and date

When the twilight switch is connected to the power supply, you will see a symbol ﬂ ashing
periodically on the display. To stop this, press and hold down the

"UHR"

button for < 3

seconds. The time is then permanently displayed and the device is now in standard operating
mode. To set the day of the week and the time, proceed as follows: Press and hold down
the

"UHR"

button

for > 3 seconds to enter programming mode. The display will

start ﬂ ashing again. The day of the week can be set by repeatedly pressing the

"TAG"

button

. The days of the week correspond to the numbers 1-7 shown above the

display

"STUNDE"

buttons. To save your entries and exit programming

mode, press and hold down the

"UHR"

button for < 3 seconds.

Programming the switching cycles

You can program up to 7 switching cycles for individual days and blocks of days. Start
by pushing the

"PROG."

button

. The

"PROG."

function will then appear on the

left-hand side of the display. This can be used to program 7 ON/OFF switching cycles.
Now, use the

"TAG"

button to select the required day or block of days and then set the

required switching time using the

"UHR"

and

"MINUTE"

buttons. To save the settings

and exit programming mode, press and hold down the

"PROG."

button for < 3 seconds.

Disabling/activating switching times

You can use this function to activate/disable the deﬁ ned switching times. Press and hold
down the

"PROG."

button for < 3 seconds to enter switching time selection mode. To

disable a

switch ON time

, select the required switching time using the

"PROG."

button

(e.g.

"08:35 ON"

) and then hold down the

"PROG."

button for > 3 seconds until

"OFF"

appears on the display. The

switch ON time

is now disabled. If you want to reactivate the

switch ON time, push the

"PROG."

button and select the disabled switching time. Press

and hold down the

"PROG."

button again for > 3 seconds until

"ON"

ﬂ ashes on the display.

The display will continue to ﬂ ash for approx. 2 seconds until the activated

switch ON time

is shown. This process also applies to

switch OFF times

Deleting switching times

You can delete the switch ON/OFF times using the

LÖSCHEN/ZURÜCKSETZEN

button

. Start by pressing the

"PROG."

button and select the switching time that you

want to delete. Now press and hold down the

LÖSCHEN/ZURÜCKSETZEN

button for

< 3 seconds to delete the chosen switching time.

CAUTION: If you hold down the button for > 3 seconds, you will delete all the switching
times.
LERNEN/TEST function

You can use the

LERNEN/TEST

button

(Fig. D12)

to control the following processes: to

perform the test function, to input the light value and to receive the DCF signal. You can
only use this button if the twilight switch is connected to the power supply.
