CMOS Sensor Component Description and Use.
Jumper Shorting Pins
The Sherlock CMOS Sensor has a ten pin, fi ve position jumper
block, marked as position 0 to 4. This jumper block allows the
user to adjust the performance of the CMOS sensor based upon
the ambient temperature. The normal, factory set position is
position 0.
Once the sensor has "warmed-up" (at least 30 minutes), set the
jumper so the sensor reading is between 0 and 80. Once the
reading has stabilized, perform the Zero Calibration procedure.
Potentiometers.
The Sherlock CMOS Sensor contains a poten-
tiometer used for fi eld calibration procedures.
Light Emitting Diode
LED L1
- LED L1 will indicate whether if the sensor is con-
nected properly and is powered up.

Sensor is not powered up.
ON Steady Sensor is operating properly.
Operating Range.
The Sherlock CMOS Sensor has an effective range of 0 to 1000
ppm (gas and control dependant)
0 to 0.3 VDC - Sensor Malfunction

Set the jumper for the temperature range the sensor will most
likely experience.
(When Adjusting the potentiometer, the jumper needs to be
at setting number one or no adjustment will be seen.)
Use only watertight fittings, either conduit fittings or cable
retention fittings. Mount conduit on the bottom side of the-
housing to prevent moisture from dripping on the control
board.
MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS
Sensor Placement
The Sherlock CMOS Refrigerant Sensor must be placed in loca-
tions where a refrigerant gas leak is likely to occur or where
leaked refrigerant gas is likely to concentrate so as to provide
warning of a potentially hazardous condition. Mounting loca-
tions are dependent upon the type of application refrigerant.
All mounting locations should be a fixed, well supported wall,
pole or frame and in locations that will prevent damage from
fork trucks, carts, and other moveable devices.
For Halocarbon refrigerants (heavier than air), such as R11,
R22, R123, R-134a, etc..., place the sensor Genesis part number
82-0100 (60-0113) or 82-0101(60-0128) 18 to 24 inches off the
floor.
For NH3 Ammonia, (Lighter than air) Genesis part number
82-0102 (60-0129) place the sensor 18 to 24 inches from the
ceiling. If circulation in the room is such that an ammonia dis-
charge will contnue to move around the room a second sensor
can be added and place 5 to 8 feet above the floor for additional
monitoring.
Sensor cable shall have the minimum specifications:
For cable runs of 0 to 100 feet. -- 22 AWG, Twisted Pair/Triad,
Stranded Wire. (Belden 8443 or equivalent)
For cable runs of 100 to 1000 feet -- 18 AWG, Twisted Pair/
Triad, Shielded, Stranded Wire. (Belden 8770 or equivalent)
