Information on use in damp
conditions
Under no circumstances
whatsoever may the GEMÜ 1434
μPos be cleaned with a high
pressure cleaning device, because
the protection class IP 65 is not
suffi
cient for this.
The following information is intended to help
when installing and operating the GEMÜ
1434 μPos in damp conditions:
● Lay cables and pipework so that
condensate or rain water that remains
on the pipework/cables cannot enter
the cable glands of the M12 plugs of the
GEMÜ 1434 μPos.
● Check that all cable glands for the M12
plug and the fi ttings are mechanically
secured.
1.4.1 Converting to protection class
IP 67
1434 000 Z2
conversion set con-
sisting of:
1x threaded adapter (M6 x 0.75 to
M5)
1x O-ring
The 1434 000 Z2 conversion set is
needed 1 x for conversion to
protection class IP 67 2x and for
installation with piped air outlet..
The housing on the GEMÜ 1434 μPos
is protected against the penetration of
liquid as standard. In order to meet special
requirements, however, the sealing can be
further optimized to increase the protection
class. To do this, remove the two integrated
venting valves at connections 3 and 4 and
convert them to a pneumatic connection. As
standard, M5 pneumatic connections can be
used by means of a threaded adapter, which
is available separately. Pneumatic tubing
can be laid in dry plant components, or will
be installed so that it prevents the backflow
of liquids.
The same procedure applies to an
installation with a piped air outlet. The
exhaust air must, however, only be
discharged at connection 3.
1. Deactivate the pneumatic control air
supply.
2. Remove the protective caps from
connection 3 and E using a small
screwdriver.
3. Using an Allen key (SW3), unscrew the vent
screws at connection 3 and E in an
anticlockwise direction and remove
them.
4. Carefully remove the venting valves using a
small pair of pliers.
5. Screw the threaded adapter with the O-ring
mounted into connection 3 and E and
carefully tighten it.
