PROBLEM
POSSIBLE CAUSE
OVEN WILL
• The circuit breaker in your house has been tripped, or a fuse has been blown.
NOT WORK
• Oven controls not properly set.
OVEN LIGHT
• Light bulb is loose.
DOES NOT WORK
• Bulb is defective. Replace.
• Switch operating light is broken. Call for service.
FOOD DOES NOT
• OVEN TEMP and OVEN SET knobs not set at BROIL.
BROIL PROPERLY
• Door not left open to the broil stop position.
• Improper shelf position being used. See the Broiling Guide.
• Food is being cooked on hot pan.
• Low voltage. See the Broiling section.
• Cookware is not suitable for broiling.
• Aluminum foil used on the broil pan rack has not been fitted properly
and slit as recommended.
FOOD DOES NOT ROAST
• OVEN SET and OVEN TEMP knobs are not set correctly.
OR BAKE PROPERLY
• Shelf position is incorrect. See Roasting or Baking sections.
• Oven shelf is not level.
• Incorrect cookware or cookware of improper size is being used.
• The oven thermostat needs adjustment. See the Adjust the Oven Thermostat—
Do It Yourself section.
SURFACE UNITS
• Surface units are not plugged in solidly.
NOT FUNCTIONING
• Drip pans are not set securely in the range top.
PROPERLY
• Surface unit controls are not properly set.
OVEN TEMPERATURE
• The oven thermostat needs adjustment. See the Adjust the
TOO HOT OR TOO COLD

“BURNING” OR “OILY”
• This is normal in a new oven and will disappear in time.
ODOR EMITTING FROM
OVEN WHEN TURNED ON
STRONG ODOR
• An odor from the insulation around the inside of the oven is normal for the
first few times the oven is used. This is temporary.
AUTOMATIC OVEN
• Check to be certain step by step directions were followed correctly.
