Walk testing the detector

The wireless PIR provides a walk test mode for testing the detector
operation and coverage pattern. Use the following instructions to
walk test the detector.

1. Remove and replace the front cover.

2. When the cover is closed, the detector enters walk test mode

for approximately 2 minutes. Depending on jumper settings,
this mode allows the detector to activate an alarm whenever
a 1 or 2 curtain area is entered. The LED on the front cover
flashes to indicate an alarm.

3. Walk test the detection pattern, remove the cover and make

any necessary adjustments.

4. Replace the cover, walk test the unit and verify the detector is

communicating with the control panel. See the control panel
manufacturer’s instructions.

After walk test mode times out, the detector returns to normal
operating mode. In this mode, the wireless PIR only supervises
every 2 minutes and the LED is disabled to reduce battery
consumption.

Selecting the coverage pattern

Mask the appropriate mirror curtains with the adhesive labels
provided and reassemble the sensor module. See figure 4 for an
example of a mirror curtain coverage pattern corresponding to
curtain 2a & b, 7a and 9b masked.

Note:

Removing label(s) can damage the mirror surface.

The coverage pattern can be changed to fit specific requirements
using the mirror masks as shown in figure 5 to 9. Mask off unused
curtains that are looking at walls or windows very close to the
detector.

Under optimal conditions, the range of the detector can be up to
100% higher than stated.

Window mask

When near objects within 1.5 m and directly under the detector, fit
the mask to the inside of the window (factory default).

This disables the part of the curtains looking down at the object,
whose closeness might destabilize the detector. In particular, use
the mask to avoid objects of changing temperature (drinks
machines, caged birds etc.) and reflective surfaces.

Maintaining the detector

When installed and used properly, the wireless PIR provides years
of service with minimal maintenance. You should walk test the
detector annually to ensure proper operation. See

Clean the inside of the detector with a soft bristled brush or
compressed air. Clean the cover with a damp (water) cloth to keep
it free of dust and dirt.

Always test the detector after cleaning.

Replacing the battery

Remove the battery to reset the low battery signal before
installing a new battery. To prevent a low battery condition, install
the battery exactly as described in

Installing the battery and

setting up the transmitter

Replace with the recommended batteries only. Use of any other
batteries may present a risk of fire or explosion.

Caution:

Batteries can explode or cause burns if disassembled,

recharged or exposed to fire or high temperature. Dispose of
carefully. Keep away from children. Dispose of used battery
according to battery directive instructions and/or as required by
local laws.
