Secure the processor by lowering the locking lever until the lever latches
into place. The processor will slip into place without pressure when
aligned correctly.
To replace the heatsink:
1
Place a piece of thermal transfer tape on the center of the processor.
2
Place the heatsink on the processor.
3
Hook the metal clip on one side of the bracket, then press down on the
hinged end of the clip and move it away from the processor to hook it
to the other end of the bracket.
4
Connect the processor fan cable, if present, to the fan connector on the
system board.
5
If your computer included an air duct, replace the air duct over the power
supply fan.
6
Close the case. (See “Closing the case” on page 18 for instructions.)
7
Reconnect the peripherals, the modem cable, and the power cord, then
turn on the computer.
Adding or replacing expansion cards
This computer has two low-profile, half-length PCI expansion slots on the
system board that may be used for a variety of expansion cards. These cards
may include a network interface card (NIC), a modem, a sound card, or an
additional IDE controller card.
The heatsink and clip may
appear different from those
shown in this illustration.
