Chapter 2: Setting Up Your Server

Restarting (rebooting) your server

If your server does not respond to keyboard or mouse input, you may have to 
close programs that are not responding. If closing unresponsive programs does 
not restore your server to normal operation, you may have to restart (reboot) 
your server.

To close unresponsive programs and restart your server in 
Windows 2000 Server:

. A window opens that lets 

you close a program that is not responding.

Click the program that is not responding, then click 

End Task

If your server does not respond, turn it off, wait ten seconds and turn it 
on again.

Important

If your computer does not turn off immediately, you may 
need to press and hold the power button for about five 
seconds.
