A.2.3.1 Jumper Settings
Jumpers JMP1 through JMP5 are used to select the signaling type. Figure A-16 shows how to hold the
adapter and set the jumpers. Tables A-31 and A-32 show alternate settings.

A.2.3.2 Circuit Connectors
The MA-308 module adapter provides four RJ-45 circuit jacks on the right. With eight leads available,
Types I, II, III, and V E&M signaling is supported. The MA-308 module adapter also provides per-
channel attenuation for compatibility with tandem connections. MA-308 module adapter has the
capability to connect/disconnect a single channel connector without disturbing traffic on the other
three.
A.2.3.3 Monitor Connectors
The MA-308 module adapter provides four RJ-45 monitor jacks on the left, for monitoring the input
and output VF and signaling levels for each of the four channels. Cables terminated with modular
plugs can be inserted into and removed from the modular jacks at any time. The MA-308 module
adapter enables interface signal monitoring of the input and output VF signal levels, the E and M
leads, and SB and SG. Each monitor RJ-45 is wired to bridge its associated RJ-45 VF leads, as well as
SB and SG and E and M leads.
A.2.3.4 Modular Connector Wiring
Figure A-18 shows how to wire the modular connectors, which conforms to cabling standard T568A
and to USOC RJ1CX. The MA-308 module adapter accepts a RJ-45 connector. Table A-33 shows the
pin assignments on this connector. At the rear of the chassis, insert the MA-308 module adapter into
the same slot position in which the voice frequency module has been installed. Once it is seated
securely, secure the unit, with screws provided and plug the connector into the module adapter.
