DecalciFYing
After regular use, hard water can cause mineral build up in and on many of the inner func-
tioning components, reducing the brewing flow, power of the machine, and affecting the
quality of espresso. We advise decalcifying the machine on a regular basis using a liquid
discaler (f.e. Gastroback Premium Descaler 98175). Follow the instructions provided.
Warning:
Do not immerse power cord, power plug or aplliancein water or any other
liquid. Tthe water tank should never be removed or completely emptied during decalcifying.
DecalciFYing the appliance
preventing calcification:
The water tank of your espresso machine is equipped with a
water filter, which helps to prevent the calcification. We recommend to replace the water fil-
ter every 2 months or after 60 fillings of the water tank. Due to hard water scale deposits in-
side the machine may occur which will affect the flow of water and thus affect the machine's
performance and the quality of the coffee. In order to prolong the intervals between the
decalcifying, use the original Gastroback water filter (No.: 97765). Follow the instructions
described in ›Installing / Replacing the Filter in the Water Tank‹.
Decalcifying:
For prevention of severe calcification, we recommend that you descale the
machine regularly, taking into account the degree of hardness of your water. Here, the use
of gentle descaler, that does not affect any metal, is important. Please use for decalcifying
only the Gastroback Premium Descaler (Art. No.: 98175). This Descaler contains special
metal gentle additives and is matched to the components used in our machines. Using the
Gastroback Premium Descaler a mixture of 50 ml descaler and max. 750 ml of water is
recommended. Due to the differences of water hardness and we can not make any precise
specifications on the frequency on the decalcifying. The following table is a non-binding
recommendation and is for guidance only.
